Well actually the beer in the pic isn't the one I brought to Mashout. The one in the pic is 100% Red X. The one at Mashout was 75% Red X 25% Rye. But thanks, it was pretty good. I will have to get a pic of that one and get it posted. Not really the color I was looking for though.

Redist!

Looks fantastic. How does it taste? Thought you posted the recipe in the recipe section but didn't find it.

ETA: Nevermind, found it. https://www.brews-br...ed-x/?p=1747471

I wonder if the base malt was all RED-X and then you added a bit of Special B and maybe some Thomas Fawcett & Sons Dark Crystal #1 (which has a lot of red in it). It would the reddest you could possibly get, methinks.

That is one damn fine looking beer. I'd love to see the build up on this one.

use red x with some carared.  boom!  red!

I've actually had good luck using a touch of roasted grain to get some redness as well.

My Red-X was delivered yesterday. I guess I was expecting something different. It doesn't look very kilned at all to me. Next to Crystal 60, it looks pale.

Which is crazy that you get the red color coupled with the very high diastatic power.

I've got a IpA with 16.7% Red X in the fermenter now. The gravity sample was interesting. I will post a pick when it comes online.

My keg of this blew in my 72 minute flight while along side 17 other taps. People liked the "Monkey Spank"!

Hey, so where is everyone getting this malt? I looked at my LHBS and they do not carry it. I went to Rebel Brewer's site and they don't have it either. Using teh Google Machine, I found some at FARMHOUSE but most of the other online suppliers (MoreBeer, Northern Brewer, Williams, Midwest, Austin) don't seem to have it. I just made a Red Lager but I'm curious about using the RedX as a base malt and then using some Special B and Thomas Fawcett Dark Crystal to see if I can make a beer that is fire engine red. Cheers Peeps.
