I got my first brewday in 3 months in today. It was at the new house, unknown water, the IC was hooked up to the garden hose. All kinds of new variables. Felt like I was shooting from the hip. So I did up a 1.064 brown ale clocking in around 67 IBUs. 5.5 oz of hops in the last 5 minutes of the boil and flameout.
First of all… Hell yeah on the 5.5oz. late hops. You adding dry hops too?
Secondly, da fuq did you decide to do with your new water?
Third… Are you still in Duluth or did you move a good distance from there?
Lastly, No brewing this weekend but I will dry hop last week's saison tomorrow and I am making preparations for Jamil's Vienna Lager sometime this week.

To answer your questions:
I don't know on the dryhopping yet. I'm sure it'll be a gameday decision.
I cut the water 60/40 RO to well water - More on this in a future thread.
I moved 4 hours west of Duluth. To give you a better idea, if you know where Bemidji is I'm about 45 min northwest of there.

LOL, my fermenter from yesterday is still sitting on the garage floor and I'm not worried about it. Because the high today is 60, it was 42 last night... the garage is super insulated so it never warms up in there..

So sounds like you're close to the Canadian border and/or the N. Dakota border? You like punishment, apparently.LOL, my fermenter from yesterday is still sitting on the garage floor and I'm not worried about it. No fearing 90+ here for the foreseeable future. I'm about an hour from Grand Forks ND and 2 hours from Canada. I had my first beer chilled in under 20 minutes!! I have used a pond pump in the past to run my imersion chiller but I rigged up the garden hose and the ground water was around 53 degrees! WOW does that speed up my day. Makes hitting your number for the 175 degree hop addition a bit tricky though

I don't have those WARM ocean currents to affect me. Don't get me wrong, I does get hot here, just not this summer so far.

I'm stuck in between the Cascades and the Rockies, so I'm shielded from both the Pacific moisture and the Arctic wasteland to the east (that's where you live)
