Tried this Flemish sour tonight. Good lord it was sour. Made me pucker on both ends. Thankfully I was smart and got the small sample.

yeah, they tend to be either a love or hate thing...I'm in the love camp but I know quite a few people that really do not like them

Sour is a defining taste in human evolution. Sour is supposed to be pleasant and craving. If people can't learn to love sour beer, they're evolutionarily broken.

No citation needed. You proved your own point. Daily observation of foods that are sour are the evidence. Sour beer is just another example. There are sours that are balanced, probably more than ones that are sour just for the sake of being sour.

honestly, thinking about it I don't like any taste that is "extreme" in a single manner, I almost always prefer balance
