It would be nice to hear that your lagering regimen will have to take back seat since you'll need the extra space in the fridge for bugs. Lots of bugs.

We are replacing our fridge in the kitchen with a bigger one and I plan to take the old one and move it to the brewery in place of the fermentation chamber. It will also be nice to have the freezer for hop overflow issues.

refrigeration space isn't an issue. We will have room for the lobsters.
Best part is, I put the old fridge on the street last night and it disappeared by 3am. Bad part is, I lost a bet with my FIL that it would stay there for over 24 hours.

I just bought a new 14.8 cu. ft. from Sears. It's energy efficient, was on sale and I got free delivery. I figured that in the long run it was cheaper than a used one.

depends on how efficient the new "free: fridge is, and how long the brand new one lasts, seems to be newer appliances just don't last long

That's not been my experience, Mic. The appliances I've bought in the last 10 years seem extremely reliable..so far! The supposed operating cost of the freezer is $38/year, and that's assuming it runs full time. Since I have mine on a temp control, it won't run full time. And at my age, if it lasts 10 years, that's gonna be long enough!

My first beer fridge is now about 40 years old. I gave it to a buddy. Works like a charm.

Yeah, my serving fridge is about 35 years old. But it's a real energy hog.

On another note. I had a beer in the old fridge that was sitting on a yeast cake for about 8 months. Up until about a month ago it was under temp control. I just couldn't get to it and take care of it. So it has been in my garage at 100 degrees for about a month.
Any guesses what it smelled like when I dumped it?

LOL. No, I was expecting autolysis. Actually it didn't smell bad at all. It smelled like a belgian dark strong. I have no idea what kind of beer it was. I'll check tonight, the label is still on the fermenter.
