I wanted to get some S-05 for a quick batch this weekend and looked that the LHBS and was floored to see they wanted 4.50 a pack.  White labs is not much better at 8 bucks.  They do have their own "line" of yeast for 5.50 so I guess I will be getting their version of American Ale instead.

What are the prices for yeast like at your LHBS?

I'll likely find out when I brew my next batch but that might not be for a month or so.  I'll try to remember to post back.  The closest place to me (candia road brewing) doesn't post prices online.

my less local LHBS (kettle to keg in suncook) is$ 4.50 for US-05 and $4.25 for S-04.  this guy has kind of jacked up prices in my opinion so I avoid him now.

my even less local LHBS is in woburn (beer-wine hobby).  $3.70 for US-05 and $3.49 for S-04.

B3 has US-05 and S-04 for $3.49 (just as a point of reference).

When I was at the store a cheek ago, the prices on the Fermentis line of dry yeast was also in the $5 range. I opted for a smack pack instead for a $1.50 more.

That is what I plan to do.  Like I said their in-house cultures are a buck more.  I just did not feel like making a starter this time but I guess I will.

I don't have a LBHS so I order everything online or get it when I am away from home. Lately I have been ordering mostly from Ritebrew.com (Someone here, i think pods8, knows the owner). Anyways, they are about 2.5-3 hrs. from me and their prices on everything are extremely good, and shipping is cheap. US-05=$2.99, S-04=$2.89. WYeast=$5.99 and is guaranteed no older than 2 months old.

I have bought from them before and they are a great place.

I need some other things so I may have to place an order.  I have about 5 packs of 04 but no 05.  I like to keep the dry around because I am never sure when I will get a chance to brew.

Yeah, I'm burned out on liquid yeast. Going to use bread yeast - Red Star Active Dry - from Costco next.

I don't remember the price but I remember a little sticker shock when I picked up a packet of US-05 awhile back.

I went to pick up a pack of W34-70 and it was $6.99 in Duluth.  I could have gotten a vial of White Labs across town for $8
