Wrapping up the boil on another saison/farmhouse ale.

Mostly pils, a bit of Munich, some flaked oats, and some cane sugar at high krausen.  First wort hopping 1 oz of whole Sterling hops for ~28 IBUs as the only hop addition.

A slurry of 3726 Farmhouse Ale will do the heavy lifting in the primary.

Looking for an OG of ~1.070 for 5.5 gallons in the primary, for an abv of ~8%.

Who else is brewing?

Hope to get an Ofest on soon.  Got the first step of a starter crashing in the fridge.  I'll step it up tomorrow, but it'll be a few days before it's ready to crash again and use.  Weather is forecast to be in the mid 90s for the next week or so, so it looks like another 5 AM brew session.

True, this saison has a bit of heft to it.  Truth be told, I've rarely brewed a beer under 6% in the last 7-8 years.

I've been heading the other direction.

With my limited 3 keg keezer I alternate heavy and light batches. My wife and I like something with a little "heft" in the evening, just a small pour and a movie. My 5.5% and below stuff is always around too.

I've been heading the other direction.

As have I.  I have been trending lower for a while.  Although when I brew up some BVIP shortly I guess I will have to put my lower ABV reference aside :)

I just made a "version" (I hate the word "clone") of Rochefort 8, but that's about the biggest I've done in a while.

Does your version use the "D" stuff from CS.com?

I have some plans for MLPA with 1056 and another lager with 2124 and my hope is that Friday night or Saturday afternoon I will get one of those in. I also have some Wyeast 2005 Mexican Lager slurry at the bottom of a batch of Hacienda Lager and I was planning another beer for that yeast.

Started a vial of 2206 last night (shop was out of Augustiner) for the Wiesn Bier that I posted about in the recipe section. Probably will do that one on Sunday. Also picked up 18 lbs. of Palisade peaches last weekend and plan to make Schramm's peach-ginger melomel either this weekend or next.

Yep, 2 lb. of D-180.  LOVE that stuff!

I've been starting to brew at 5 AM in this weather.  The upside is that I'm done by 10 AM.  The beauty of retirement!

Agreed but props to you if you can pull it off. I'd be tempted to head in the other direction and brew at night.

Add a timer to your panel and you can have that water ready for whenever you want it.

Well that'll shave at least 10 minutes off my brewday.
