Me either with a keggle. But now I have a flat bottle kettle and a pump, so working good. Check out the pic in the Black Rye IPA thread. And drez, no haven't heard of those sacks. The whirlpool worked really well so can't say I really need them.Whirlpool has never worked well for me with a keggle. I had 6oz of hops in there and I'm gonna dry hop with another 2oz x 2 before this is kegged.

I got it mainly for whole hops but works good with pellets too to keep the sludge out. I still whirlpool too. This seems to help when I have a ton of hops in a beer.

You think I need more than 2 oz of dry hops for 3 days, pull, then dry hop with another 2 oz for three days?

I have one of those. Didn't use it. I forgot to grab it. I tried using a bazooka screen, but it's not my kettle and I couldn't set it up the way I really wanted to.

Not for nothing but I've gotten into the habit of using a commercial double mesh strainer as I drain off into the fermenter. It catches all hop particles. I have to shut the valve and pitch the "schputz" about 4 times for a batch with 5+ ounces of pellets. I also do my runnings through the strainer so no vorlauf. Works very well and is an inexpensive tool.
I rarely use whole hops however. Never been anything but a butt pain during draining....

I suppose if you do that on the hot side then you have less chance of contamination.

I Starsan the strainer along with everything else when performing my drain into the carboy. As you probably agree the final steps getting the wort into the fermenter safely is the biggest sanitation challenge on brew day.

I have a new brewery event tonight at the local pub. Finally Copper Tail is selling beer. My club is showing up en masse to support them. I have to remember to pick up some sugar on the way home so I can pitch it into the beer tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

yeah, I'll add it to a few pints of water and add it to the fermenter.

Added the sugar last night. The krausen had already fallen so I gently swirled bucket to get the yeast back into solution. That 007 drops out fast! I did not take a gravity reading. My sampling stick was dirty.

Damn, took way to long to get to dry hopping this beer. It is in fact being dry hopped and it will be kegged on Saturday. I'm debating whether to add more hops for dry hopping or to leave it be. I have an ounce of Cascade, once of Citra, and ounce of Nelson in there now. I can add some centennial and also amarillo possibly tomorrow.
