I made an AAA on Friday night and put it into the tub of cool water (Starsan solution actually) with a frozen ½ gallon apple juice bottle. Checked it again on Saturday and rotated the bottle out with 2 frozen Gatorade bottles. Activity was pretty good. I should have checked it Saturday night but did not. Went down there this morning around 9am and the lid had completely blown off the primary bucket. It landed in the Starsan solution, luckily. The airlock was completely gunked up. I cleaned out the airlock, replaced the lid, etc. I have never gone into my beer bunker, turned on the light and seen "open fermentation" but I did today. The beer smelled fine and I will take the advice that I would normally give... Everything will be fine. Right?
Never saw that one before...

But... but... it's only 11am. First lunch, then some football and eventually some beer. Thanks drez... I knew the beer would probably be okay but damn, I'm surprised I didn't hear a small explosion overnight.Fine. So much CO2 pushing out almost impossible for anything to get in. Go have a beer and relax.

I saved a few bottles of an open fermented Dunkelweizen I made last fall to see if they ever showed signed of infection. Nope. Oxidation and no longer great beer but no infection. You're good to go.

Next time start with the gaterade bottles and then go to the apple juice ones. Clearly your beer got the performance edge from the frozen Gaterade bottles and took off too fast

I had a kiwi wheat beer do that once. I came home to beer all over the wall and ceiling. Turned out to be pretty good.
