A buddy of mine from college (lives in Moscow, ID) just started brewing AG recently.  He had a beer that after 24 hours hadn't started visible fermentation (this was yesterday... as of this morning it has taken off).  He posted a picture and asked me if this looked like an infection.  I think it's just a lot of protein.  What say you?

I don't think an infection would be that bad after just 24 hours.

Yeah, I don't think it's contaminated.

That was my thought. I allowed quite a bit of break material to enter the fermenter or he pitched a lot of yeast. I'd say it's good.

I don't know what his procedure is.  I don't know if he drains from the kettle or if he has to dump it.  I'll have to ask.  Like I said, he's new to AG.  I'm certain its just the protein from the cold break.  I thought I'd just toss it out there for the occasional "what is this" so we could all agree and pat ourselves on the back.

And Guv... it's just a link to the picture he posted to Facebook.
