The poppet on the outpost can cause this as well. I replaced mine and the problem was solved.

I once had some hop particles stuck under teh beer out poppet that also caused havoc.

I'm talking about replacing a defective poppet. Not the post.

I'm saying he would have spotted an issue with the poppet when he took apart the post.

eta: an apparently he already replaced it :P

Was it a universal poppet? Because that was the problem I had. Went to a slightly smaller one and the problem was solved.

It might not be the correct size. Too large of a poppet will not allow it to be depressed enough for the free flow of beer.

a good question would be, has he used this keg before and did he have any problems?

also - if he managed to pour some beer okay and then it started foaming that makes me think something is clogged up.

Actually, the poppet that was replaced was an "A" type but I replaced it with a universal, which has seen its' share of duty. At this point I'm inclined to buy into suggestions that there's something stuck in the tube. Gonna blow it out tonight.

Came home. Started making a pot of soup. Wanted to deglaze the pot an figured I'd use some foamy ESB. I hit the tap and the gosh darn picnic poured as normal as should be expected. So, for the sake of science and all things holy, I poured a few perfect pints. System is mysteriously back to normal. Thanks for all y'all's good input. Please stop by for a pint :)

I had one picnic tap beerline foaming like this. It would foam on the first pour then be fine for the next pours until it sat awhile. Screwed with it multiple times/different kegs and finally switched it to a keg of cider. Don't know what the issue is with it.

did you ever check the faucet on the hand tap (if it was a hand tap)?  I had one get a little funky once and I had to do a complete breakdown to get it clean.

I've got picnic taps and they sure do get gunky. Actually replaced it with this ESB. The two others will follow suit when needed. I'd love to get some Perlicks and trick out my keezer but it's in the hot Florida garage. That said, keeping the taps inside the cold keezer will keep away the heat and any chance of other harmful stuff. At least that's my plan.
