I have one of those 70 qt deals.  Realistically you don't want to put more than 58 qts in it (using the "can I mash it" calculator from green bay rackers).

so you've been warned!

So how much didn't fit??  Or did you have to abort a no sparger?

i put the water in first.  i had planned on 13.8 gallons of water + 21.5 lbs of grain with one gallon of "sparge".  once i saw the water in the mash tun i took a gallon out before putting the grain in.  it was the right decision

Was this just so it would close?

I have been known to fill my MLT to the brim!

my lid is bulged out a little bit b/c i put foam insulation inside of it.  part of the lid was touching liquid

I was doing something equivalent to your pic since my lid goes down into the cooler.  I'm guessing "70 qt" means with no lid, filled right up to the edge.

I would assume that also.  I just rested the lid  on the back and then a SS spoon for this one.  That was 36.5# of grain for a version of BVIP.

I usually mash at 1.5qt/lb and when I do a ten gallon of dennys RIPA, I have to go down to around 1 qt/lb with mine (same as EM's).

this was 2.5 qt/lb but obviously a smaller beer.

Curious. Why such a large water to grain ratio?

i wanted to get as close as possible to a no sparge beer.  this is the best I could do for a 10 gallon batch.

also - if you have any plans of doing BIAB for 10 gallons you need at least a 20 gallon kettle unless you never plan to make anything of above average gravity.

Didn't see the no sparge part. Interesting, might have to look that up.

so as an aside with my 2 gallon sparge I still had 78% efficiency into the fermentor (I didn't take a pre-boil gravity and I'm not sure how much I lost to hop absorption) which is only a few percentage points below my average efficiency for a beer like this.  I'd say it's within my typical range.
