Last weekend I inherited a pretty nice 1/2" ~25' wort chiller. It came from a friend of a friend who is quitting brewing. Instead of bending the pipe up at a 90 degree on the bottom he soldered an elbow on. Any worries of putting that into the wort? I don't use solder much and not sure if they even sell solder with lead in it anymore. Just worries me about putting it in my wort. Worst case it will be a new pre-chiller.

If he used plumbing solder I wouldn't worry about it.  There's some on mine.

So roll the dice and hope he did?

I am not even sure you can get anything other than 95/5 in stores these days.  Sure there is a chance it was 50/50, only way to know is ask the guy.  If you are really worried is there enough material that you can cut out the elbows and sweat new ones on?

Like DJ I have solder on an IM, manifold and other parts in my system and other than a few strange ticks and what not I am fine :D
