I used to trip out on all that stuff. I don't anymore. As soon as my efficiency drops and my projected FG rises then I will think twice about it. With that said thanks for posting the studies. Good stuff.

Man, that sure sounds familiar.  Did I mention I mash for 40-45 minutes?

I recirc so it's very clear after ~10 minutes.  No issues with chunks at all.

 

You're wasting your time.  Very clear really isn't necessary.

This brings up a question. Do refractometers require clear wort?

Nope.

They are much easier to read with no chunks. It doesn't need to be Ken crystal, just no chunks

I don't recirc so I can use my refractometer.  It's a HERMS, part of the process.
