Not sure I really need another 20# co2 tank but I have it now. Could end up being more trade material. I'm going to take the reg and combine it with another I have to make a double.

I agree.  the 2 kegs or the CO2 tank + regulator are easily worth 2 glass carboys.  why would someone make this deal????

He doesn't keg or even make beer for that mater. Well he sort of makes beer but it ends up a different product at the end that requires long ageing on oak. So he wanted to use some carboys with oak chips or spirals.

Well then, sounds like everyone won.  Hopefully after the long aging you get some of his "beer" too.

Trust me I do. In fact I have a few jars of raw product that I do my own ageing on for fun and to compare.

Aging like that can very easily be done in the kegs.  I had an Old Ale that aged for close to 10 months in a keg.

IOTW... you still got the better part of the trade.

Very true, but in his case kind of a waste of equipment. He will never use those items for the intended purpose but I will. And the carboys will work great for what he is doing and plus allows him to see the color it is developing. He knows I got the better end of the deal value wise. But to him it was a win win as far as getting the most use out of the items.
