I'll echo the thanks you've been given. Judging is difficult, there are far too many who don't take it seriously when they do it, or don't have the training & knowledge to do it well. Having done some judging in my past, I do not envy the task of those who step up and perform a needed role. You taste a lot of bad beer when judging a large competition, and never really get the positive effects of alcohol. You just seem to slide into a hangover kind of state with a mild headache. All the while you have to remain very focused if you're taking it seriously and trying to give every beer both the opportunity and the constructive (not negative/empty) feedback it deserves. And it's often the bad beers that require a lot of attention to give good feedback to help the brewer grow.

Yup. It's all the acetaldehyde that gives you a headache.

Bjcp recognized judge. I passed my test with a 72. I was nervous because I didn't even finish the tasting exam.Im happy. I think ill take the exam again next year and try for certified.Cheers!
Shouldn't 70 get you to certified?

Need to get at least 5 experience points to get certified under the new rules

If scored 70+ and have 5 pts = certified. Can retake, but still needs the points

I thought it was 75. Haven't looked at the regs in a while. I'll be certified in January when I judge BFBC.
