I have a friend that is starting to get into brewing, and is looking for some new equipment. I directed him towards the big websites, but the costs of those kettles seemed high to me. Can any of you recommend a source for well priced and good kettles around 10 gallons?

If he doesn't have to have stainless, an aluminum pot is a good option. I've been brewing in mine for ~7yrs.https://www.amazon.c...sa 40-quart pothttps://www.amazon.c...pd_bxgy_k_img_yMine is like this but 40qt. I bought it at my local supermkt for $35. It's not as thick as the one above but does all I need it to. https://www.amazon.c...ale steamer pot

I thought about building him a pot out of a spare sanke keg I have, but he is looking for something that his In-Laws can get him for Christmas. So, stainless would be nice, just not $200 stainless pots ideally.

wish I could remember where I bought my kettles.  I think I bought the 10 gallon one at austin homebrew but that was some time ago so I have no idea how prices compare.

That looks similar to what I use. It's thin walled compared to the $300+ stainless kettles, but I've used mine for over 3 years without a problem. I'd recommend something like this to someone starting out for sure.

I can also highly recommend this that I bought for my son-in-law last year. Nice weight kettle and great burner.

Thats the exact kettle I have. Has held up great and not limited me in any way. Its magnetic too so if I ever get off my a_ _ and convert to induction brewing it's good to go.

yeah - good deal!  I like that the handles aren't riveted on.  i have one where they are and I don't like it.  the rivets corrode.
