Anybody going to have the time to get it done?

I'm thinking of whipping together a quick saison this weekend. Thinking of doing something interesting with the late hops. Feel free to make a suggestion on variety (I have a lot on hand). Probably look like this...

OG 1.048

IBU 30

80% MFB Pils

10% MFB Vienna or Munich

10% Flaked Wheat.

Gr. Magnum @60

modest dose of ???? whirlpool and dry.

3724 or 3726 (have both on hand)

ULTRA!Wait, did I just say that out loud? :PI am making a batch of MLPA tomorrow morning. Water has been filtered and measured out. Grains have been measured out and milled. I hope to have some others brewed by Christmas and then I'm outta here for a winter trip! Cheers.

Out of my house APA.  WLP001 is spinning in preperation for Sunday.  This time I'm using Noble hops for flavor and aroma.

85% 2-Row

10% 60L

5% White Wheat Malt

1 oz. - Magnum @ 60 mins

1.5 oz. - EKG @ 15 mins

1.5 oz. - EKG @ F/O

5.3% ABV - 35 IBU's

Tonight, I'm racking my Belgian Blonde that finished out at 1.009.  It's getting gel as well and should be ready to go on Christmas.

Cheers all!

I don't think I will be brewing before Christmas. Focusing on other projects at the time. I do have 3 other brews in the works though that should be on tap by Christmas. But then I go out of town for over a week so won't have time to enjoy them.

I have brewed 20 gallons since thanksgiving and I plan at least 2 more batches before the end of the year. I know one will be a Helles and I think an APA with some experimental hops.

Why don't you brew with it again? Try some blends with it. Personally I have made a few beers with Belma and don't think they are bad at all. Maybe not on there own, but blended with something they can add a fruitiness. They seem to go along great with Mosaic says my wife. Her favorite beer I brew is just Belma and Mosaic.

This is what I have heard about it. I think Stone has blended with other hops in a couple of their beers.

I saw a Pretty Things beer last week with Belma and I instantly thought of you. I think I will stick with the experimentals I have ☺.

In honor of all this Belma talk, maybe I'll throw something together where I bitter with something like Magnum and then just Belma the bejesus out of the beer late in the boil and see what happens. Did you catch that? I used Belma as a verb! Then I'll name the beer after Velma from Scooby Doo... Velma's Belma. And no, I haven't had a drop of beer today. :P

I remember you got some new ones. Remind me which ones. I picked up 4oz. each of Tahoma and Azacca 2 wks ago during a stop at Farmhouse on my way through the southern part of the state.

I have half a pound of each of these:

Armadillo

Vinnie Special

Otto Supreme

I plan to use all 8oz in a simple APA with the following grain bill:

10# Two Row

2# Vienna or Maris Otter

.5# Caravienne

.5# Flaked Barley

Hop to 30IBU @ 60 with Apollo and then use the experimentals in the following schedule:

1 oz @10

1 oz @ 0 (10 minute steep)

2 oz @ 180 (30 minute steep)

2 oz in the hop back before the cfc

2 oz dry hop

I am going to start with the Vinnie Special, that is said to be a similar to a simcoe/cascade blend.

Sounds like a good idea to me.  I would be inclined to just use the Magnum at 60 and then use the belma all after the boil between a large steep at different temperatures and dry hops.

I Like the name too

That ought to do it. Give us the skinny on what you get from them.
