Poured a pint of my first beer back in the game today. It is a little undercarbed because I only let it sit in the bottle for a week, but I am very pleased. Thought you all might like to see how it turned out:

After the overwhelming rounds of indifference (from my Brew Brothers) to my pseudo Belgian ale post from the other day https://www.brews-br...lgian-batch-51/ I decided to make a change up and do a spin off of Memory Lapse using Simcoe, Amarillo and Mosaic with WLP001 to do the dirty work. I haven't made an APA in a long while. Looking forward to it.

Just milled 8# of Basmati rice.  Tomorrow or Sunday I'll cook it, throw it in the mash with some 6-row.  Mittelfruh and 1272

Nice!  Surprised you made it a week.

I think I've used some type of Belgian yeast 3 or 4 times.  I like them but not 10 gallons.  That's my batch size.

Been thinking about doing a Coors Banquet clone with pils and instant rice. Have you used Basmati before?

Back in the greenboard days I did.  I threw a few strange things in too.  I'd have to look at my notes.  It did have a little nutty taste come through.

Brewed my St. Patty's Day oatmeal stout yesterday; bubbling away today merrily at 57°F (US-05 slurry).

Can't wait to have this one on nitro.

Anticipated? Yes. Wanted? Not quite. I brewed on a very cold day with new equipment and theash was colder than I wanted, so it is a little dryer than I would like. I also didn't get around to the dry hops, which I think would improve it. A little Irish moss in the boil would help with clarity. So I have plans to improve the recipe next time I brew it. And there will be a next time for sure.

It's too cold to brew at the moment. I have a batch of Bordertown Dark Lager planned and it appears that the warmest day this upcoming week will be Tuesday... 20° for the high.

Did my first batch sparge in ages. The rice wasn't going to let me fly so I let it channel. Refilled and let it channel again. Looks like I hit my numbers with the refractometer. I'll check with a hydrometer shortly after the whirlpool settles.

Could be, but I'll bet they didn't use Basmati. B)

I'm on a kick for a while using other starchy fermentables.  I want to do the same with the rice wine aspergillus/yeast balls.
