So lately some of my beers have seemed a little off. I wondered if there was a pattern (yeast strain) or a problem with my water filter again (I taste the filtered water on every batch so that wasn't it) and it was a mystery. They are not 'infected' by any means, they just don't taste right. Then it hit me... when I went to Costa Rica I brought back a souvenir... a nail fungus (probably from walking around barefoot or whatever) and I have been taking terbinafine (Lamisil) since early January. One of the side effects is "temporary loss or change of taste". Wow. Unfortunately this is a 90-day prescription but good to know it's not the beer, it's me.

That's crazy. At least you figured it out before you tore something apart in your brewery.

Yeah there are a lot of meds that can throw off your taste buds. Glad you figured this out. Might want to try a commercial example like Morty suggested just to be sure.

Yes, everything tastes off. Food, beer, soda, whatever. A slight dirt-like, metallic thing.

The from Google machine:Individuals suffered dramatic changes in how they tasted bitter and acidic flavors, but also milder decreases in their ability to taste sweets and salts as well. Hmm.
