I've been tossing around the idea of putting together a brewing vlog about tampa's/floridas brewing scene. Frankly I'm surprised no one has done it yet.

 

Well I've been throwing this around for the last year or so and finally I have a chance. My buddy works for a production company and they just spent $40K in equipment for doing things like this. They gave their guys carte blanche to use the equipment, but use the company name to spread it around the community. The company is not brewing related. I wanted this guy in on the project because he has and can do all the internet and server stuff to make it possible. I just want to do it so I can get access to all the awesome brewers in the area.

 

So we've got corporate sponsorship and professional equipment. We're going to try to put together the first episode for youtube for Tampa Bay Beer Week, the first week in march. It's a huge week long series of events. So we'll have no shortage of material.

 

We need a name though. I was thinking keep it local like Tampa Brew News, except if we go past local it won't make as much sense. So help me find a name.

Right... you need a catchy name and of course you can't steal someone else's name (even remotely) because well, you know. Something like Sunshine State Suds or other Florida+Beer reference. Sun & Suds. Beach & Beer. Palms & Pilsner. Florida Craft Beer Kind of Thing. Okay, I'm getting tired.This is very exciting, I agree. I would love to watch something like this but even more... I would love to MAKE some of these episodes. Let us know how it goes.

This will focus on breweries, clubs, brewers, and beer in the area. My partner mentioned that we shouldn't use a name that is Florida specific. I agree. If it does take off then we want to be able to be a little ubiquitous.

My advice, don't pigeon hole yourself by the name into one region (example:  Bay Area brewing, Tampa Bay Brewing Reviews, etc).  Let's hypothetically say that this website does really well and attracts advertisers, and generates income.  You'd like to leave your options open to taking this National to grow the site and revenue.  Just my $.02

Getting together tonight to go over questions for the first episode. Going to Coppertail Brewing and interview the president and brewmaster in their tap room sometime in the next week or so. Should have the first episode in the books by March 8th or 9th, just in time for the opening of Tamp Bay Beer Week.
