The Zymatic demo unit showed up yesterday. Now I have to learn to brew all over again! Once I start using it. I'll blog about it at www.experimentalbrew.com and post links here.

Is that an espresso machine?

I'll have a double mocha vanilla latte. Make it a Grande.

Ya know, the instructions also talk about using it for sous vide...really!
It requires internet access when you use it (built in wifi) so I won't be able to brew with it in my garage like I usually do.

No wifi signal in your garage? How far away is it from your house?

Is it a snow cone maker?

Far enough. Several walls to go through, too.
Push a button and let it brew for you. Can't wait for your review.
Yeah, well it may not be quite that simple....close. I'll let ya know.

I tell ya, it's a sous vide machine!

From the picture, it looks to me like you wouldn't have enough grain space to make a BVIP. That is a non starter in my book.

Actually, Annie has brewed BVIP in it several times and the recipe is in the online library. It can do 2.5 gal. up to 1.090.
Brew has begun! I'm uploading videos now. I'll post a link in a little while.

What is this 2.5 gallons of which you speak?

Not everybody who likes to drive cars wants to be a mechanic. The way I see it. If Pico brewing is easier, brewing 2.5 gallons 2 times could be easier than brewing 5 gallons 1 time.Plus you can brew more different recipes and the 2.5 gallons kegs took easier to deal with.I like the idea of this device. Some people are interested in the final product, fresh, home made beer. The process is not of interest to them.
those small kegs are expensive as hell. it would be cheaper to fill 5 gallon cornies.

If you are dying to get 5 gallons you could do two 2.5 gallons back to back. I was talking you could do 2.5 gallons, twice as often. Brew 2.5 gallons twice a month instead instead of 5 gallons once a month. This is not a panacea product for every home brewer.Quick check on Williams Brewing has new 2.5 gallon kegs for about $90. New 5 gallon kegs are a little more, $110.I guess you can get used kegs for cheaper. As an initial investment, does not strike me as a significant difference. This is not a product for the person who wants to squeeze the most out of every brewing dollar. They trade money for convenience, ease of operationthose small kegs are expensive as hell. it would be cheaper to fill 5 gallon cornies.

Used 2.5 or 3g kegs are often harder do come a cross on the used market. I can remember getting used 5g kegs for $22 but the 3g ones were in the $60-80 range. Those times are long gone and I agree with you, if you are buying them new the price delta is not as bad.

I was saying still make your 2.5 gallon batch and just fill the 5 gallon keg part way. well, I didn't say that but it's what I was thinking
and yes, I was thinking used kegs b/c I figured that's what most people buy.
