So do you guys get friends/family that offer to buy your beer? It gets annoying some times. I'm not in this hobby to make money and some people just don't understand that. I brew to keep my taps fully stocked for people to drink when they come over. I have no problem with anyone coming over and drinking all you can handle. But then I get friends offering me all the time to buy some to go. Will offer $20 or something to fill a growler, I just constantly have to say no. Then I will have guys offer to buy kegs or partial kegs. This is just not my gig. Then today I had a buddy ask me if I would brew a couple kegs for his cousins wedding. I've never even met this guy. I politely declined and said I just wouldn't have the time to fit it in. Then he offers to buy kegs, but again I declined. He just wouldn't understand why I would turn that down. So anyone else have to deal with this?

Explain to them that it's illegal....

Well, that pretty much sums it up.Although I haven't had any contract requests, some do ask what I do with all the beer that I brew and this question usually arises as they are drinking my beer. I humbly explain that I brew it to drink and share with friends and family. There's a sign on top of my keezer that reads, "Please drink my beer with unbridled enthusiasm."Cheers.

I did an event where I was serving my homebrew and some people came up looking to try and buy some kegs of a Pumpkin Spice Beer I did ( a take on Ken's recipe).  They were getting extremely mad when I kept saying no.  It can get tiring and one of the reasons I stopped doing those kind of events.  I do have some guys at work that will ask for a growler and offer to bring me something from a brewery near them or what not.  I would much rather that than money to be honest.

people offer to give me money if they are taking growlers sometimes but I say no.  if they are really insistent I just tell them to bring me a bomber of something interesting and we'll call it even.

I've also had people offer to pay for the ingredients for half of the beer.  Probably not an issue since I could say we are just brewing together but still kind of a PITA.

"No, but I'll show you how to brew."

I did that last Sunday and it added about 2 hours to my typically efficient brew day. However he was a friend and we drank the whole time... doh.....

I have brought in a double duce, or a sixer to give to people if there persistent. I have had the same in the past, mostly it's curious people just wanting to sample some.

10 years before i started homebrewing  i asked a guy at work that homebrewed the same thing. He told me he could not transport it, and sell it and made no offer either way. Kind of felt like a shut door on the homebrew situation . Unlike Today, you can try microbrew in every little town . I think he could of handled the situation  a little better.

I get people asking for beer all the time. I have to turn down a lot. I have charity events that I brew for and certain parties throughout the year. After that it's for me and my friends or competition.

I get asked this all the time at the hospital. Seems like everyone knows I brew. I had a very cute single nurse who likes PT guys ask me if I would educate her on how to brew beer yesterday. I explained a bit about it and gave her the Palmer "How to Brew" web address. My tech and I were discussing the logistics of explaining this to my wife. "Honey, I'm going over to a nurse's house to teach her how to brew. Don't wait up" If I were single tho...

FB search turned up photos of her shooting skeet and holding up largemouth bass. The fact that she's single with all this going for her is very suspicious.
